THE CITY OF HARTFORD
TAX COLLECTOR'S SALE YOUR GUIDE TO THE CITY OF HARTFORD TAX SALE
The Tax Collector's Office handles the redemption process so there's no reason to worry about how you would prepare for it. If the property you bid on is redeemed they collect the certified check for you, make sure you are being paid your bid price plus the right amount of interest and mail you your money by certified mail with a letter notifying you of the redemption.
If there is no redemption during the six month period then title to the property will pass free and clear to the successful bidder. With this Tax Sale that date will be December 16, 2003. On that morning the Tax Collector will file the Tax Collector Deeds on all properties that were not redeemed. These deeds will be recorded on the Land Records at the Hartford Town Clerk's Office. After about a month and a half the deeds will be returned to the Tax Collector and will be mailed out to you by certified mail. You will be responsible for the new taxes plus interest that accrued during the six month redemption period so you should be prepared to pay them as soon as you become the owner.
