CITY OF HARTFORD TAX SALE

THE CITY OF HARTFORD
TAX COLLECTOR'S SALE
YOUR GUIDE TO THE CITY OF HARTFORD TAX SALE

The City of Hartford will conduct its 13th Tax Sale on June 14, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the Auditorium at Dr. Joseph J. Bellizzi Middle School, 215 South Street, Hartford, Connecticut. Properties will be auctioned off by the Tax Collector's Office for the amount of their delinquent taxes, interest, lien fees and associated costs. These are not properties that are owned by the City. These are properties that are privately owned that are tax delinquent.

There are a variety of tax delinquent properties up for auction this year at bargain prices including a condominium garage space for under $2,500.00, one bedroom to three bedroom condominiums ranging from $2,900.00-$4,100.00, one families from $8,000 up, two and three families from $8,000-$45,000 plus apartment buildings ranging from 4 units to 47 units, some with commercial and retail space. Commercial properties on this year's sale include restaurants, a bar/lounge, automotive service buildings, downtown properties, and mixed use buildings of various sizes, including warehouses.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. outside of the Auditorium. All interested bidders must register in person on the morning of the sale and have with them cash, a cashier's check, or a certified check in the amount of $4,000.00 for each property to be bid on. (Cashier's checks and certified checks should be made payable to you or to the City of Hartford.)

If there are any properties on the sale day with a total amount due of less than $4,000.00, the minimum deposit will be $1,000.00 payable in cash, money order or certified check. (Please note that a $1,000.00 deposit is not enough to register to bid on a property with a total due of more than $4,000.00. If you have any questions, please ask prior to the auction.)

The registration table will be manned by Tax Office personnel who will record each bidder's name, address, and social security number. They will verify that the person registering to bid has the required deposit in the correct amount and form. (No personal or business checks will be accepted unless certified.) The bidder will then be assigned a number and given a number card and the rules of the sale.
